My Promise
Why trust matters more than features
Browser extensions are uniquely powerful. They can see every page you visit, read every form you fill out, and silently phone home without you ever knowing. Most of the time you just have to trust that they won't.
We've all seen what happens when that trust breaks.
The Great Suspender was one of the most popular tab management extensions in the Chrome Web Store. Millions of users relied on it daily. Then it was quietly sold to an unknown entity, injected with tracking code, and ultimately flagged as malware by Google. Users woke up one morning to find their trusted tool had been weaponized against them. More recently, popular VPN extensions were caught bundling malware. Extensions that people installed specifically because they cared about privacy opening the doors wide open? Crazy.
I built Raft because I needed a tab manager I could trust. I'm sharing it because you need one too.
What makes Raft different
The code is open. All of it.
Raft's entire source code is publicly available under the MIT License. There are no hidden binaries, no obfuscated scripts, no proprietary blobs. You can read every line, build it yourself, or fork it entirely.
I can't see your data. By design.
Raft is 100% local by default. Nothing leaves your browser. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, no usage tracking. Zero.
Cloud Sync (optional) uses end-to-end encryption (AES-256-GCM) with keys derived from a password only you know. Your data is encrypted on your device before it ever leaves your browser. I literally cannot read it, even if I wanted to.
Raft will never be sold.
I will not sell Raft to a third party. Period. No acqui-hire deal, no "Raft is starting an exciting new chapter" announcement, no quiet transfer of ownership to an entity that mines your browsing data.
If I'm ever unable to maintain Raft, the MIT License means the community can carry it forward — fully functional. No one's permission needed.
I don't operate servers.
There is no Raft backend. No servers I control that could be compromised, subpoenaed, or quietly repurposed. Your sync data lives in your own Google Drive in an app-specific folder that only Raft can access. What about Google? They can see there is some encrypted data. That's it!
Raft is free.
Every feature, including Cloud Sync, is free. No paid tier, no upsells, no "pro" gates. If Raft helps you, tell a friend.
The deal
When you install Raft, you get a full-featured tab manager that respects your privacy. No payment, no account, no catch.
